Mugello
- This is the birthplace of Giotto, but Mugello is famous for its artisans’ laboratories for shoemaking, leatherworking and ceramics, still popular and fully active today, at the edge of the forest zone, which zealously maintain the traditions of the country civilization and extraordinary natural beauty. Places to see include Borgo San Lorenzo and the Museo della Manifattura (Manufacturing Museum) of the Chini family, the Museo delle Vite e del Vino (Wine and Vineyard Museum) of Rufina and the Museo della Vita Contadina (Museum of Country Life) in Sant’Agata.
Chianti
- Between the provinces of Florence and Siena, there are vineyards, olive groves and cypresses. This is the surprising landscape of a tour in Chianti, synonymous with more than wine. Where the hills meet the Apennines, large and small towns tell of their medieval and Renaissance past: one view follows another of towers, ancient manors and important rural buildings, where the wine business and agritourism find an ideal location. An enchanting trip along the ‘Chiantigiana’ road leads from Siena to Castellina in Chianti, a medieval settlement of Etruscan origins.
